A new landmark for Pontypridd
A new pedestrian route is soon to be opened up in the South Wales town of Pontypridd. The cable-stayed crossing will link the town’s new Llys Cadwyn development with Ynysangharad War Memorial Park. The Llys Cadwyn development is a major project in the town centre comprising of three state of the art buildings which together will bring hundreds of new jobs to the South Wales town. The buildings will be home to Transport for Wales, a new library, council customer contact point and a state-of-the-art leisure/fitness centre
The main contractor for the Hydrock engineered bridge is Knights Brown with Centregreat Engineering responsible for carrying out steel deck and tower manufacture and installation. The bridge incorporates a tapered 25m high tower and a slender deck which is supported by a total of 16 locked coil cable assemblies, manufactured by Redaelli.
TENSOLOGY technicians assisted with cable installation and carried out precise tensioning of all 16 locked coil cable assemblies. The resulting structure forms an elegant, un-intrusive link directly from the development to the public space.
